Daily Dose of Coach #299: Forget Knocking on Wood

What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Troubles find us. No matter how much we try to avoid them. They are just apart of this life thing.

We do a lot of things to manage and avoid trouble, pain and suffering but it is an inevitable fact. No matter how much we knock on wood, problems are going to arise.

The infamous Dr. Seuss quote says, "I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat. I’m all ready, you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!"

I like to think instead of knocking on wood we should carry this bat. This bat invites trials, an attitude that doesn't lend to fear, but to strength, patience, perseverance, and hope.

Don't be afraid of fear, suffering, and trials. Your success is based on your ability to get back up from these times. When you have the right attitude, when you carry this bat, the calamity in your life is never final.

Life comes at you. Forget knocking on wood. Let it come.
